I’m Lissa. That’s Melissa minus the ‘me.’ I can’t tell you how over-the-top excited I am that you stopped by. I would love to offer you a cup of hot tea and a gluten free muffin, but due to cyber-space constrictions, I’ll have to settle for sharing my words.
I love words. I love reading, writing, and singing them. I love speaking them. I love the way they look next to each other, in just the right placement to tug at my heart, bring a tear or a smile, or send me into a fit of worship. That’s another thing I love…worship. Whether it’s through song or writing or speaking, I love worshipping the Word – my Savior. I love that He accepts all of me, my failures, my faults, my past full of brokenness and my attempts at living a life honoring Him.
I also love my family.
I am a wife to a fabulous man. He makes me laugh. Still. After 18 years together. He supports me. He tells me I’m a good cook and a good mother. He tells me he loves me. This amazes me… all of it.
I am a mother of three gorgeous daughters, two of whom are teenagers and one who is so very close. Our home is replete with hormones. We know drama. We try our best to do life and not get too banged up in the process. We’ve had our ups and our downs, as any family does. I wouldn’t trade a single second of it.
I’m also an overcomer of a broken past full of pain, violence, disappointment, and humiliation. I know what it is to feel alone. I know what it is to feel as though God has turned His back. I also know what it is to experience His grace, to accept His love, and to live a forgiven life. I know what it is to be saved.
I’m honored for the opportunity to share some of my words with you. But most importantly, I’d love the chance to share the only words that truly matter…God’s. Because in the everyday messiness of life, His Word holds the answers. He’s the only One who can bring something beautiful from a pile of ashes. I think I love that the most.
